What training is given to carers?

In this instance, I can only mention the training that Nightingales gives to our carers.  Our carers all train in manual handling, health and safety, medication, safety of vulnerable adults, food hygiene, first aid and fire safety.  As well as these, carers will also receive specialist training in nutrition and well-being, whistle blowing, pressure care, mental capacity, dementia awareness, palliative care and infection control.

All of our carers are either studying or have already achieved the QCF (formerly NVQ) qualification in Health and Social Care.

We constantly check and liaise with our care staff to ensure that they always maintain the high standards that are set during the training period.  Spot checks, supervisions and one to one appraisals are all part of our regular supervisory work to keep everyone on the same page.

As you can see, there is quite a wide range of training and qualifications that are care staff must complete.  This ensures that they all possess the  expertise to care for our clients to the highest possible standards.
