Who We Are:

Nightingales Care is a Care Service Provider based in Bognor Regis. The managing director, Sue McIndoe has been managing domiciliary care for the past 5 years. She and her husband Gary share nearly 50 years of experience within the care industry.

The Story So Far:

Their caring careers started in Witley, Surrey. Here, they worked as part of the care team for The Mount Residential Home. This was a family business owned by Mrs. June McIndoe (Gary’s mother), they soon took over the management of this home and made every success of it.

Having decided on a more coastal setting, Gary and Sue bought their own residential home in Selsey, Summerfields Residential Home. This home was a huge success, receiving a 3 star CQC rating several times and developing a fantastic reputation for quality care. Sue and Gary have brought their wealth of experience to their home care company. This started in 2009 as part of a franchise. Although it was a great success, they felt that being independent would allow them to fully utilise their skills and experience. Sue spends her time in the office, managing the company effectively and also out in the field with the carers as she loves providing care.

The new Nightingales venture has brought their son Stuart to join the family team. He has recently left the Royal Marines Band Service after eight years service, to join the family business. He served primarily as a musician but was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. His role was an ambulance driver, both on Camp Bastion and throughout Helmand. After a successful career, Stuart wanted to join the family business to use his good organisational skills and his accounting skills from his recent study.

Next came Beccy, the crazy bundle of energy that shines on the company every day. She joined as a Carer in 2013 and has since been promoted to the role of Care Coordinator for her hard work, dedication and determined attitude. She spends most of her day in the office; doing the challenging task of organising the rotas, assessing new clients and making sure the care Nightingales provides is the best it could possibly be. However, like Sue, Beccy is also a fantastic carer and spends much of her time out in the field also, helping provide care with her colleagues.

Carer answering the telephoneLisa Mullender is our office manager, who has been working with the company for 7 years. She started working for Sue as the company secretary and has always worked hard in an organised and friendly manner. She has been the office manager for 4 years now and has been essential in the company’s transition to Nightingales Care. Lisa worked for 12 years as a legal secretary and has brought her years of experience with her to this role. She knows and understands all of our clients’ needs and is the friendly voice that they look forward to hearing.

Gary McIndoe is now working full-time for the company also, after working in the Removals industry for a few years. He is bringing a wealth of experience and practical knowledge to the company and enjoys working with his wife and sons.

Finally, Sue and Gary’s youngest son, Kez, joined the team after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Roehampton University. He has since taken to learning everything there is to learn about the company. He currently deals with any and all aspects of Human Resources and marketing within the company, dealing with recruitment, induction and keeping tabs on all the carer’s training, advertising and networking.
